Profile

Steven J. Santarsiero is a Partner In the Environmental and Public Sector Law Sections. Mr. Santarsiero most recently served the Commonwealth as the first Chief Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania for Environmental Protection. In that position he oversaw the prosecution of environmental crimes and led the Attorney General’s efforts in fighting the federal government’s attempts to roll back key environmental regulations.

Prior to joining the Attorney General’s office, Mr. Santarsiero represented the 31st Assembly District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he served for four terms. As a member of the House, Mr. Santarsiero served on the Appropriations, Education, Local Government, Environmental Resources & Energy, Transportation, State Government, Veterans Affairs & Emergency Management and Children & Youth Committees. He also served on the Local Government Commission, where he helped shape Pennsylvania land use and municipal law. Mr. Santarsiero previously served as a member and Chair of the Lower Makefield Township Board of Supervisors, where he proposed and helped pass an award-winning Low Impact Development ordinance, which helped the township better control and plan development within its borders.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Santarsiero was a teacher at Bensalem High School and an attorney focusing on environmental law, toxic tort and commercial litigation first at a large, well-respected New Jersey law firm and later at a large regional firm.
